The Handmade Festival Round Up

the handmade festival round up

October 4, 2019

We’ve just wrapped up our fifth year at The Handmade Festival and what a weekend it was! It’s always such a pleasure taking part in this show as it brings together a fantastic mix of creative makers – all championing the handmade! Today marks 3 whole weeks since the first ribbon cutting and so we thought it’s about time we share some of our Handmade Festival highlights from 2019…

Meeting You!

One of our favourite things about being on the road is meeting lots of new people. Being a small business and mainly an online shop, heading out with our pop-up shop gives us the great opportunity to build relationships with our lovely customers and other crafting businesses.

We were so pleased by the continued support and amazing feedback from our new and loyal customers at this year’s Handmade Festival, so thank you to everyone who came along!

Our Best Stand Yet…

Lots and lots of hard work went into creating our stand this year and we were super proud of the end result. We spent two whole days building from scratch to ensure that everything was perfect for our biggest weekend show of the year. We wanted to create an inspirational space for you to shop with lots of brand new samples that we hope inspire your next creative projects.

Let’s Make & Take: Autumnal Wreaths

We hosted make & takes right on our stand for the first time at The Handmade Festival. We invited you to have a go at creating your own wooden theme with an autumnal theme which you could then take home. Our workshop leaders, Caroline and Lauren, guided everyone through the best techniques for working with our Birch wood, including colouring using our inks and decorating with Perlenfischer rubber stamps.

With eight people on a session, it was a great way for us to get to know you a bit more and get an idea of your crafting styles and tastes as well as gain valued feedback on the stand and our range of products. Our workshops took place right next to our pop-up shop so others could watch and be inspired!

If you want to have a go at creating your own autumnal wreath at home, the kit is now available online.

Special Guest

We were also so delighted to welcome a special guest to demonstrate on our stand this year. Designer and owner of Perlenfischer, Katja Kücherer joined our team all the way from Germany on Saturday to showcase her amazing laser-cut rubber stamps. With an ever-growing collection of all different stamp motifs, Katja’s designs range from adorable animals to classic Christmas – all with a contemporary style.

Perlenfischer stamps work amazingly on our Birch wooden shapes, as agreed by the expert herself!

New Products!

If you came along to The Handmade Festival this year then you would have been the first to shop our range of brand new products. We launched three new designs to our best-selling collection of mini craft kits; these included a bumblebee kit, dinosaur kit and Christmas stocking kit. We also had, new to our stand, a charming Winter Scene Kit and Create Your Own Advent Calendar Kit. After much anticipation, we finally introduced Ink & Stamp Sets, perfect gifting ideas for Christmas, as well as a fox kit, woodland stamp set and new rubber stamps. These will all be available online soon so stay tuned!

As always, we had so much fun at the show, a massive thank you to everyone who visited our stand. Here’s to the next 12 months!
