Welcoming a new baby into the world is an incredibly exciting time but it can be difficult choosing the right gift for parents and their newborn. There’s so much choice out there it can be tricky to know what to go for, so we’ve created a few thoughtful handmade gift ideas using our popular wooden shapes. Whether you’re celebrating the arrival of your own baby or attending a baby shower for friends or family, these are lovely ideas that are unique and memorable and also a great excuse to get out your crafting tools!
This personalised plaque is a great gift idea – the pastel-theme is a lovely way to brighten up a child’s bedroom. We recommend using acrylic paint in lilac to coat the background of our wooden plaque shape. We’ve then stamped the bottom half using our stardust rubber stamp and Purple Hydrangea ink pad for a pretty purple pattern.
We’ve used pink, violet and whiteposca pens to decorate our mini rainbow embellishments and added a touch of iridescent glitter for some sparkle! Next, we’ve painted our scrapbook letters with a Cloud White ink pad, which looks lovely against the purple background. Make sure to use full strength PVA glue to apply your embellishments and letters onto the wooden plaque. To hang your gift, we love to thread a few colourful felt pompoms through fine jute string.
This is the perfect, unique gift that’s both long lasting and memorable!
