Let’s Make: Christmas Cards

christmas cards

October 16, 2019

Today marks the official countdown to the most wonderful time of year and although the autumnal months have just begun, we’re strong believers in ‘it’s never too early‘ when it comes to Christmas! Over the next 10 weeks we’ll be sharing with you all our craft festive favourites from classic Christmassy baubles to personalised presents to get you well and truly ready for the winter season! We’ve kick started our festive craft with 5 fun ways to decorate your Christmas cards, using 3 super versatile themes that are guaranteed to fit every taste – Scandi, Luxe and Brights.

Scandi

Create this simple yet sophisticated ‘Season’s Greetings’ card, using a classic Christmas colour palette of Red Magic and Pearlescent Thyme. To make this Christmas card with a stylish Scandi-theme, we recommend using our fir sprig and berries Perlenfischer rubber stamps and create your own jolly message with our alphabet stamp set.

Top Tip: Try stamping off the edge of the card for a seamless pattern.

The Scandi-theme is also great when combined with our wooden craft shapes. Here we’ve glittered the antlers on a mini wooden stag head and popped a flurry red pom pom on his nose. We recommend attaching your shape to a sage circle postcard and, finally, stamp ‘Happy Christmas‘ in red magic ink onto the card.

Luxe

For a traditional, luxe Christmas card, our adorable penguin,  snowflake and miniature ice crystal rubber stamps are a must-have! We’ve added some iridescent gems and, for the perfect finishing touch, used our contemporary ‘Happy Christmas’ stamp.

Top Tip: Why not re-create this cute winter design on our Christmas wooden baubles and make your own festive decorations to hang on your tree.

We’re loving brush lettering this Christmas and have created this navy-themed luxe card, using our wooden baubles. To create this, paint the entire shape with white acrylic and stamp straight onto the wood using our seed head rubber stamp and night sky ink pad.

Brights

For a fabulous twist on the traditional, why not create this vibrant cactus Christmas card. Decorate your mini wooden cactus embellishments with an Aquatic Splash ink pad, trio of stars rubber stamp and iridescent glitter for a touch of Christmas sparkle. We recommend applying your shapes to a pretty pink card to make your cacti pop!
