Create a crafty corner at home that is bespoke to you and and your family with this personalised, garden-themed plaque. Inspired by summer walks in the British countryside, this sign is perfect for families who just love the outdoors!
All you need:
- Large Rectangle Plaque
- 3cm Alphabet Letters (If you have a long family name, you could use Alphabet Stamps instead)
- Mini Wooden Wellies
- Mini Wooden Wellies made with Liberty fabrics
- Stamps: Nature Stamp Set, Daisy Mini Rubber Stamp
- Inks: Aloe Vera Ink Pad, Cloud White Ink Pad, Tea Leaves Ink Pad, Mango Madness Ink Pad, Hint of Pesto Ink Pad, Ocean Depth Ink Pad
- Ribbons: Black & Ivory Rustic Gingham Ribbon, Natural Medium Jute String
- PVA Craft Glue
- Damp cloth or wet wipe
How to create:
Step 1: Apply the cloud white ink pad onto top 3/4 of the wooden plaque. Swipe your ink pad in the same direction as the wood grain for best results.
Step 2: Apply the aloe vera ink pad onto the bottom 1/4 of the rectangle, using the tip of the ink to blend it with the white.
Step 3: Swipe your damp cloth or wet wipe where the two inked colours meet to create a seamless gradient effect. Repeat Steps 1-3 to build up colour until you’re happy with the gradient. Leave your plaque to dry.
Step 4: Decorate your wellies. We’ve applied the hint of pesto ink pad to the first pair and ocean depth ink pad to the third pair. We’ve used our wooden wellies made with Liberty fabrics for the second and fourth pair of boots. Top tip: Apply a short length of gingham ribbon to the tops of the wellies for a fun trimming.
Step 5: Select 2 floral stamps from the nature set to create a meadow along the bottom of the plaque – we’ve chosen the leaf stem and dandelion stamp. Apply the tea leaves ink pad to the leaf stem stamp, ensuring the entire motif is covered evenly. Then, line up the stamp in the desired position (bottom, left corner) and press directly onto the wood. When you pull the stamp away you should have a lovely crisp impression.
Step 6: Repeat step 5, this time with the dandelion stamp. Line up the stamp next to your first impression and press directly onto the wood again.
Step 7: Repeat these stamping steps across the entire bottom-edge of the plaque, alternating between each stamp.
Step 8: Once you’ve finished your row of stamping, use the daisy rubber stamp and tea leaves ink to stamp around the flowers to create your meadow.
Step 9: Apply the mango madness ink pad to your 3cm alphabet letters and leave to one side to dry.
Step 10: Arrange the decorated wellies onto the plaque, placing each boot at the top of your stamped meadow. We recommend turning each boot at a slight angle, so they are walking! Once you’re happy with your arrangement, apply a small dot of PVA craft glue to the reverse side of each welly to glue into place.
Step 11: Arrange your wooden letters at the top of the plaque. Again, we recommend turning each piece at a slight angle. When you’re happy with your arrangement, apply a small dot of PVA craft glue to the reverse side of each letter and glue into place.
Step 12: Leave your entire plaque to dry for approx 20 minutes. String up your plaque with a length of natural jute string and then your personalised decoration is complete!
